Tokusei stands for precisely casted surfaces from exclusive fabrics.
Engineered Assemblies has constructed the first jobs in North America, exclusively for Hugo Boss in Toronto and Boston. The system we designed was to hang the panel like dimensional stone, but in an open Rear Ventilated Rain Screen (RVRS). We used standard 600mm x 600mm panels, and cut them to suit the project. The open reveals set off this distinctive panel in a way that makes the building stand out from the standard marbles on the store next door. Hugo Boss is branding their stores with this look.
Tokusei concrete facing panels are designed especially for decorative facing. They are manufactured from a fibre-reinforced light concrete mix with a density of only 1600 kg/m3 and an flexural strength of over 5 N/mm2. The panels are manufactured in wet cast.
A panel thickness of 40 mm prevents distortion or cupping of the panels even under the influence of intense, direct sunlight while, at the same time, the 4 cm edge enables convenient and precise installation of the panels in the supporting framework attached to facades.
Each panel is coated with a specially formulated colour finish developed exclusively for this use. These coatings are a suspension of colour pigments in a clear varnish with extreme UVresistance. This endows the panels with a metallic sheen and a play of colour that creates wonderful highlights in the textile structures. An even closer look soon reveals the finer details of the individual weft and warp fibres of the woven material.

Architects can choose this product to create any look that can be created in a mold. The cost to create this unique look is less than one would think, for example beating the cost of real stone by a long stretch.
